ethical question r.e. working hours

I did a backup with the FAST wizard and now want to restore the data to
a new computer. The 2 systems are connected with an ethernet cable and
on my old system I selected the folder with the *.dat files that are my
backup. When I started the transfer it started re-compressing the
files in my user account folders.

How do I transfer the files since they are already backed up and
restore them on the new computer?

Thanks!!

I didn't work. On my old computer I had one SATA drive and one IDE
drive. I took the SATA drive and used FAST to back up all of my data
FROM the sata drive to the IDE drive and it backed it up as a bunch of
*.dat files that all start with IMG. Now I have the SATA drive in my
new computer freshly formated with a fresh Windows install. What I
need to do is transfer those DAT files to my new computer and
uncompress them and have them go where they belong (i.e. emails,
pictures, movies).

Thanks!

Err...I now realize what I said and feel stupid as that is what FAST is
supposed to do. The challenge is I saved the DAT files to c:\temp on
my old computer and useing FAST to access the other computer I do not
have access to the whole system...only the shared folders.

Do I have to move the folder with the DAT files to a shared folder?

Thanks!

Why not just temporarily share the folder containing the FAST data files? Open
Windows Explorer on the old computer, right-click the folder (C:\Temp or whatever it
is), click "Sharing and Security" on the menu that appears, put a check in the box
for "Share this folder on the network" and click OK.

Read Gary Woodruff's article carefully.

I got it. I had to mark the folders as "shared" on the old system.

Thanks so much!!
