Fast file splitter

Is there a free file splitter/joiner that is faster than Chainsaw? I
want something that can split a four gig file into four meg parts.
Thank you in advance for all replies.

You're welcome. I thought it was a real find, myself, when I first heard
about it.

98SE, and I had previously used it on Win95 without problems. Also I
installed it on 2 other machines--2K and XP, as I recall--for 1-time
filesplitting jobs, and it worked just fine. Like I say, never a problem
here.

Perhaps my problem was a one time glitch or something specific to my
setup. Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.

I used v 1.2 quite a while ago and had a problem with it. These are the
notes I made back then:

Had problems splitting Netscape 4.7 download. File splitter said that
the file had been recombined correctly but program would not install (on
old computer). Did WIN98 disk scan, said the files on the diskettes were
good. After MUCH trial and error determined that the recombined file was
flawed (and that the split was flawed, a new split produced a good set
of files)

I don't see anything in the FAQ about this problem or any indication it
has been corrected in v. 1.3 - from that I conclude that either the
problem may still exist or the problem I had was due to something other
than an error in the program - can't think what that would be. . .

A checksum app might be able to tell if files are being recreated
correctly. . .

Hmm. I've been using v1.21 for some time now, split and recombined many
files, and never had a single problem with the app. Did you encounter any
more than this single instance of a difficulty with using it?

Not that I recall - OTOH I didn't use it much after that one bad
experience. I do remember finally recombining the files on the same
computer they were split on - and the combined file was flawed - which
does dispose me to believe it was a flaw in the program.

Glad to hear you've had good results. The version I have is TFS_121.zip
(229 KB) - sounds like it's the same version as yours - WIN 98 OS - your
OS is?

Or perhaps I've just been extraordinarily lucky in using it. But you might
want to consider trying it again, and complaining about it here if you run
into problems with using it again!
