with all these problems... wouldnt it be best just to get a new heat sink? Like a fancy pants one?

Hi Alf... well actually, the PC is only a fortnight old and it has a "Zalman CNPS9700 NT Tritium Super Aero Cooler" on board, in addition to a 120mm case fan .... just trying to establish why they don't seem to be cooling the CPU

Or could be they decided to install a fan-heater instead!!

That Zalman is fine for that pc, its clearly not installed right imo....

PC Probe isn't great either imo.... Core Temp & Speedfan all the way.
