Fan speed monitoring connector and MSI K8N MoBo

Hi, I have an Antec Neopower which has a blue-black wire fan speed
monitoring connector (which has three pins). I'm not sure where or
how this connects to my MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard, nor how this is
used. The MSI K8N has SFAN1 and SFAN2 power connectors which are
intended to power fans but I have plugged my case fans directly into
the Antec Neopower's "fan only" power. What should I do with the
blue-black fan monitoring connector, if anything? (These instruction
manuals could be written a little better.) Thanks!

The 3pin connector goes to the PSU header on the motherboard if you want
the BIOS to monitor the PSU fan speed.

Thanks Mike. I'm not sure what you mean by "PSU header" on the
motherboard. However, from the pdf manual I understand that I can
optionally connect the blue-black fan speed monitoring connector to
any available fan power connector on the MSI motherboard and the
motherboard (or power supply) software application will display the
fan speed of the power supply. It also mentions that some
applications may display a fan-failure alert if the fan speed drops to
1000 rpm. I'll know more when I get the OS and software installed.

Depending on your motherboard, one of the headers may be marked as PSU
or Power. It's only so you can monitor the PSU fan speed for peace of mind.
If you install Fanspeed or Mother Board Monitor, you can set an alarm if the
PSU fan stops running.
