Probably simple to answer but I'm running XP on a Compaq Presario with
2.6GHZ and 500MB and when I do anything that takes up a lot of
resources such as playing music in iTunes as I'm browsing on line, etc,
what sounds like a fan kicks in...loud...sounds like one of those hand
dryers in public toilets.
Then on closing down iTunes, or whatever, it stops.
I presume a fan is set up to kick start when the PC reaches a certain
temperature?? I've dusted out the insides of the PC and the temperature
on startup is normal. Do other people have this? Is it normal? And
would ungrading my memory to 1000GB stop it happening? It's annoyingly
loud and concerning me a little.
Any advice would be great. Thanks.
