Fan Failure Alert! But Fan Replaced

D

hello all,

When I boot up my computer, I get a warning that says: "Alert! Previous fan
failure. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the set-up utility".

My old fan did indeed fail, but it has been replaced with the proper new fan
a couple of weeks ago. The new fan is running fine.

Does anyone know how to stop this Alert message from popping up each time I
reboot. The alert causes the computer to stop loading Windows until I
return and hit the F1 key. It's a bit annoying and there must be a way to
put it right. Any assistance would be appreciated as always.

Consult the computer's and/or motherboard's manual (or the
manufacturer's web site) for instructions on resetting the alert. There
should be a setting in the BIOS.

Thanks Bruce, but I didn't get a 'manual' from Dell when I purchased this
computer, nor the manufacturer of the motherboard. But when you say there
should be a setting in BIOS, perhaps that is one of the options if I hit the
F2 key. But I tried that once, rather than hit the F1 key, and did not see
an opportunity to do a 're-set' of any type.

Turn off the power, and take out the computer' internal battery. Wait a few
secs, put back in and turn it on. Removing the power & battery will reset all
BIOS settings, so be sure to review them and change them back. Might be a
good idea to make a list of the setting first.
