failure to sign in

i have been attempting, for hours now, to access messenger (and hotmail) to
no avail

could someone at microsoft tell us, the customers...

1. what is going on
2. when/if then problem will be solved?

messenger is now working, alas hotmail isn't (however i am fortunate to
receive my email via outlook)
