When I sign into Windows Messenger (4.7) on Windows XP with my Hotmail
account, I check the box to "Sign me in automatically." I sign in
successfully. When I sign out and click "Click here to sign in," I am
not signed in automatically; I have to enter my password again (though
my Hotmail address is remembered).

Likewise, when I start Windows Messenger for the first time, I am not
signed in automatically; I have to click "Click here to sign in" on
the main window, then I have to enter my password to sign in.

I've been through the .NET Passport wizard to associate my account
with my Passport, and the Password Manager says that the Passport is
being managed.

Why can't I get Windows Messenger to sign me in upon startup?

Hmm. How odd. I seem to have fixed the problem, but it's a silly fix.

I signed into an administrative account and set up Windows Messenger
to automatically sign into my Hotmail account. I tested it, and it
worked. Then I removed my Passport information from the administrative
account, signed back into my regular user account, and suddenly
Windows Messenger was able to sign in automatically.

There must be a bug somewhere...
