i'm trying to run a "disc scan" to check and fix errors, upon "restart" my
computer fails to access the volume for my "C drive". i'm running XP SP2,
with Norton 2006 security. i've tried to run a system restore in a few
different dates with "unable restore system" results. i've also tried
re-installing Norton with no gainful results either. thanks in advance.

Try run,type:cmd In cmd type:CHKNTFS /?
Im not sure of the exact cmd you need, but when you get the "fails to access"
text, running CHKNTFS with the volume listed and the syntex for running at
boot time,gets you CHKDSK

i entered chkdsk andafter finding finding and deleting 6 index entry's an
error message displayed saying..chkdsk cannot continue in read only mode.
