Failure of IE6 to open mail when there is unsuspected symbol

When utilizing Web based E-mail using IE6 with uptodate
service packs certain PCs fail to receive their mail. IE
quits loading and the error message
reasd "unexpected ',' " and the loading quits.

I have tried uninstalling SPs to no avail. This happens
mainly on Dell machines, naturally.
