Failed HP printheads

I have had two black printhead failures with my printer Hewlett Packard hp
officejet D135 bought new in Feb this year. This last one lasted only 1000
prints.
And these weren't full office documents prints but small emails. This
printer is going to be
very expensive after the warranty runs out. Anyone else having this
problem? Or did I get a lemon?

These combo printer units from HP are noted for their relatively high
cost per page and difficulty with the black carts. Maybe the printer
is too fast for the ink's drying time, and you might look around for
3rd party cart suppliers that have addressed this problem with
slower-drying black inks. If you're lucky you might be able to find a
repairman who can give you recommendations. I was surprised to see
that these printers have a separate head, unlike other (standalone) HP
printers that contain a printhead as part of each replaceable cart.
Evidently they wanted to be able to offer the simpler carts at a
cheaper price because of the more frequent replacement of inks
expected for this unit. My guess is they don't have their act
together on this system quite yet--another argument for considering
the extended warranty on inkjet printers; not doing this has cost me
plenty.
