Failed Domain Controller

Please can someone remind me how to remove a Domain Controller from Active
Directory if that Domain Controller has failed? It has since been replaced
with another machine with a different computer name.

Current servers are running Windows2000.

Thanks for your assistance.

The article you refer to relates to clean up after an unsuccessful Domain
Controller Demotion. As the Domain Controller didn't go through any of the
demotion process does the article contain the correct procedures for me to
follow.

The Domain Controller hasn't been subjected to any Demotion process as it
failed completely while in situ. The motherboard died and completely
trashed the scsi hard drives on its way.

Please advise if I should just follow the article you mentioned anyway of if
the process should be altered in anyway.

Many thanks

The title of the article is a bit of a red herring. This metadata cleanup
procedure is the one to use in any situation where you want to remove a DC
from AD but the original server is not available to do a graceful dcpromo
down to a member server. eg. unsuccessful dcpromo, hardware failure, stolen
server etc.
