F8 not starting safe mode

I recently installed anti-virus software, and now my computer just keeps
restarting without windows completely loading. I tried to press F8 when I
turn on the computer, but it does not give me the safe mode options. What can
i do?

You have to tap the F8 key rapidly during the early stages of the
startup in order to access the startup menu.

You have to tap the F8 key rapidly during the early stages of the
startup in order to access the startup menu.

This can also act as a form of stress release (but your F8 key may never
function properly again!)
