Extracting from Series of files .001 .002 etc

I have a series of files with extensions of form .001 .002 .00n
I've tried extracting from them using winrar and 7zip but neither works.
Can anyone please suggest a proper way of getting the files from this kind
of archive.

thanks

It depends on how the archive was created. The extensions: .001, .002
etc was normally used by Norton Ghost but you need to know it exactly.
Is there any icon against the file name?

no it's definitely not Norton Ghost file. Rather some kind of split
archive file.

thanks

What created the files?

..### extensions were used by many different split/archival/compression
utilities. If it was a compression utility - usually it was .z## or .r## or
so on - but it is possible not to have that. You'd need to let someone know
what it was originally created with in order to get a proper extraction of
the files.
