Extra Programs

I was looking in my Add or Remove Programs to remove some
programs and noticed qty. 12 programs here
labelled "Windows XP Hotfix (SP1)[See Q------ for more
information]
Questions: What are these programs and is it safe to
remove these?

These are the updates to your OS. Leave them there.

No it is NOT safe to remove them - they are related to
vital security issues and should remain. If your search
Google for each of the Q numbers you can learn what each
fix ivolved.

It is safe to remove their uninstall components if you
wish but not the fixes themselves. The uninstall
components are in hidden folders in the Windows folder
that start with $NTUninstall..... As most of them are
quite small, I would leave them untouched. Why tempt fate
for a few hundred Kb of space !

A good rule-of-thumb for deleting things that you are
unfamiliar with:
1) Stand up,
2) Put your hands on the chair, where your thighs were,
3) Sit down
Now you can't hurt yourself ! ;-)
