external IE error, Shdoclc.dll

I am on xp home, with aol 9, dialup and currentest
version of IE my External IE wont surf, anypages...I can
still surf though aols browser, have run, spybot,
adaware, pest patrol, norton, and bitdefender online
scan, still having error... have clear'd cache, temps,
rebuilt aol adapter, and have try'd changing access
number..... when I click IE, window opens ends up, cannot
find server, page cannot be displayed, even when the home
page is yahoo or google.... was able to write down error
that appears at bottom of page, as its opening.....
res://C:\WINDOWS/System32\Shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm, hope
someone has a clue, advice, help...have found out, is IE
located in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer, i was able
to change my shortcuts to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
\iexplore.exe (cause it Connects) and it works, but some
still rely on the one in program files which is broke,
how do i fix?? thank you for your time

If you have or had, Kazaa and or NewDotNet and removed it you may have a
damage Winsock. Download and run this tool.

Before trying to remove spyware, download a copy of LSPFIX from
the URL below - some malware may kill your internet connection when it is
removed, this program will enable you to regain your connection.
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html (if your OS is Win2k or
XP)

If all fails,

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] Latest version is 1.98.

Unzip the Download file in a NEW FOLDER that you can create before you start
the download.
DO NOT install in your Desktop folder.
DO NOT use any of the TEMP folders that are presently in your computer.
Double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:

Sign in, then copy/paste your HijackThis .log file in your message.

Thank You for your reply, i have seen those links, and
will check them out more thoroughly, when i browsed them
they didnt seem to be relevent, as i dont have kazaa, my
IE is 6, and i have xp, and yes i have aol (its my isp)
but it never had a problem before, here i was just
listening to streaming video on netscape, through the
external IE, and next song it Poofs! and why does on IE in
one folder work, and not the other, they tell me Not to
delete the broke one..... and yes, i have hijackthis, And
posted at tomcoyotes board, 4 days ago i was that
desperate.. No Response,.. but thank you for yours

I presently help in a other forum on HijackThis log. We are all busy and
tomcoyotes must also be in the same boat.

I know that this is not your exact problem but it may help.

Thank You again, I am happy to say that I have found my
problem *shamed* and two solutions for it too,...

the First, is just to be sure, and to be able to say that
I had try'd Everything,... I shut my norton firewall off,
was Completely shocked, when my IE worked... I have
Changed No Settings and why One External IE would work
and the other Not, I have no Idea...

also a response from another board, came up with this...
Go to Start, Run, and type in: REGSVR32.EXE /i
SHDOCVW.DLL and hit enter. This Works for my Problem, I
have no Idea why, and my norton doesnt have to be
changed...
