External Hard Drive

I Recently bought an external hard drive, Toshiba 250 GB
i have installed it all it was a piece of cake everything was so easy. now
the problem i am having is, really stranged. when i first installed it it
was named G:\ and now the weird thing is,when i go to dismount/disconnect my
hard drive, it changes diferent drive letters, like it'll be H:/ then it'll
be F:/ everytime i dismount it,

Either you have plugged in other drives like a usb card or i think its
reserving the drive letter then not reasigning it. If you view the
properties of the drive are you able to change the letter? try make it
z: or something.

First make sure your external drive is up and powered. Right click My
Computer... choose Manage...click on Disk Management...now right click the
drive you want to assign a drive letter to and click on "change drive letter
and paths". Now you can make that drive be any letter you choose by
clicking on the Add or Change button, etc.

Now rather than making the external drive be the next letter available
during bootup or turn on your computer will retain that drive letter and all
your shortcuts etc will point to the correct drive. (You may need to change
the drive letter of some existing shortcuts if they don't agree with your
final drive letter choice)
