the name of my external drive is Cypress AT2LP RC42 but when i go under
hardware it says that the name is yyyyyyyyyyyyy usb drive.. and when i click
on it.. it ask me if i want to format the E drive.. and once i click yes it
reads error formatting E: drive.. what can i do to get my drive working again?

go to the homesite
for the external drive
and look up their
troubleshooting.

would i go to cypress or should i go to hitachi because when i took it out of
the box its a hitachi travelstar.. and i download there programs and it wont
detect the external drive..

both.

both should have some
fyi and solving basic
installation issues as you
may not be the only one
in the world to have encountered
an issue.

also, since it is a new purchase
and you likely have some
free tech help for installation,
warranty and troubleshooting,
you should take advantage
of both of them and
ask them the same question.

it may not be unreasonable
that your unit might be
defective because i think
most all hardware of today
is plug n play ready.

if not then it is probably
a piece of cr*p and of
poor engineering.

basically tell them that
yours plugged in but
it wont play.

before i go to that site.. i took a part the external drive and looked at the
information on it and it reads HITACHI (TRAVELSTAR) should i be worried?
