External Device recognition

When I plug an external device or install a DVD or CD my P.C. it recognises
the operation with a ping or whatever, but the option window for the device
does not appear and I have to manually access the device or media.

Ping is a network program used for testing, typically.
Let's just say that the computer makes a sound of some
kind, like the tick of a clock. OK ?

Try this:
You can right-click on the device in My Computer and go to
the AutoPlay tab and specify what action to take dependent
upon the type of media inserted.

There is no auto play tab available, also be aware when I go to load new
software from disc I have to manually open drive to execute.
