exporting e-mails from outlook 2003 to Entourage OR Mac Mail

I know variations on this question keep coming up but I can't actually find
the response I need (believe me I've tried!) and it's driving me mad. I've
used Outlook for 4 years on a PC laptop and have thousands of e-mails that I
wish to get off my PC laptop and onto my new iMac. I currently use the Mac
mail programe on the iMac which I'm happy with but I also have entourage so I
don't mind if I can only access old e-mails through that program-they'll just
be archive and reference. I've tried backing up .pst files etc but it either
won't complete properly or if it doea entourage won't recognise the file
(ghosted) and I don't seem to get an option to export out of Outlook in an
'MBOX' format text file which is the only other relevant option entourage
will accept. If someone can please help I'd be VERY grateful!

Thanks Brian but that seems to only work for Outlok for Mac. It wouldn't work
from my PC file. If you've any other suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

To anyone looking for the answer to this query I just used one of my software
support calls to microsoft and it turns out that Microsoft do not have a
method of transferring the above files. Apparently there is a 3rd party
software available for purchase ($10) that does the trick. It's availlable on

I am just about to purchase it so i will let you know how I get on!

That link describes how to transfer the data from a PC to a Mac. In what
way does it not work? I thought that's what you said you wanted to do.

Yes, I do want to get files over from Outlook on PC to iMac but I've re-read
the link a couple of times and unless I'm missing something I think it might
be a bit mis-leading. The title of the link says:

'Import a windows based *.pst file (from Office XP) into Entourage'
The link itself states 'PST Import Tool for Entourage 2004 for Mac'
I followed it, downloaded the fille-all worked fine. I then took my .pst
file from my PC and tried opening it on the iMac through the new program. It
said it was not a MAC .pst file so could not open.

Did I miss something or choose the wrong link somewhere?

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the O2M software worked a treat. The
trial version only moves a couple of e-mails and I didn't really get that
working properly but as it's only $10 I bought it online anyway and used it
straight away. All my PC e-mails are now opening in my MAC mail!
Microsoft have told me that there is no official compatibility between the
two programmes so according to them you can't create a file on the PC
(Outlook) that can be read by Entourage or any other mail prgramme on MAC
without this (or another) intermediate software. Hope this helps someone else.
