Export Outlook Contacts to Excel

I have read the threads regarding exporting Outlook contacts but could not
find an answer to my specific question. Using Outlook 2003, I can find the
export feature and can accomplish the export, but only from the "main"
contact folder. I have a sub-folder that contains the information that I want
to export. However even though I have that folder highlighted, the only
exported information I receive is the information that is in the main
contacts folder.

Is the only way to accomplish this to copy the contacts from the subfolder
to the main contacts folder?

I use a very simple cut and paste to take data from Outlook Contacts to
Excel.

Open a new Excel sheet.

Show the Contacts in a table (eg By Category or Phone List view). Arrange
the columns the way you want them. Select the ones you want to copy to
Excel. Drag them top the Excel sheet and release.

That method will work with most data.
