explorer seems to hang after visiting several pages

While browsing through several pages, will reach a point
were IE seems to fail. The flag is indicating that it is
working on something, but the page is blank and the
status bar is indicating "done". If you at this point
close the explorer and then reopen it you can get to the
page just fine, till the scenario starts all over again.
This seems tobe totally random in number of sites/pages
visited and where they are. Any intel would be
appreciated.

I have been having similar problems, often getting the "can't find server or
dns error" page. You might try flushing your DNS, and releasing the DHCP
lease.
Run - cmd - ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
