Programs Hang After SP4

I posted a question about this in August but no one seems
to have an answer, but I have seen several other problems
like this from other newsgroup posts, Some one please help.

After applying SP4, several of my servers would exibhit
these symptoms.

Control Panel displays a blank window when opened, on
servers that I could get into control panel, the Add
remove programs applet would not open. Internet Explorer
opened a Blank window, and browsing to certain
subdirectories in Windows Explorer would hang Explorer.

I have tried the fixes in KB 265829, 285195 and 329891,
none of these fixed any problem.
The only thing that works is removing SP4, while this will
be good for now, at some point I'd imagin that I will have
to install SP4 and will run into these same problems.

One more note .. I have also tried reinstalling SP4.

Do you have any Symantec products loaded on your servers?
If so, there are known incompatibilities with a few of them and
SP4. Check Symantec's website.

Had a similar SP4 problem, but only with certain systems. But I have not
been able to come up with a common denominator, as systems are the same
hardware and image. The biggest problem seems to be that IE takes forever
to load a page that should only be a few seconds. And and
uninstall/reinstall results in the same problem.

So, I have no answers, except that SP4 should be avoided.

You and I are not the only ones having this problem, I was
kind of hoping that someone from Microsoft would address
this issue, apparentlty they are ignoring it.
