Explorer Opens When Booting Up

Hello All,
I have an HP Laptop that required a repair install because the
/config/system file was corrupted. All went well and the system is running
fine. However when its boots up windows explorer starts up with
u:\regedit.exe in the address bar. If I boot up without the network
connection plugged in explorer does not come up. There is nothing in the
msconfig startup that shows this in the list. I believe this is a registry
problem. Does anyone know where this problem may be in the registry? Or
does anyone know the fix for this? The laptop works fine its just very
annoying.

Hi Parker,

Disable all network drive mappings to test. If not, try this:

Download Startup Tracker application from this page:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_starttrack.htm

Launch the program, and click the "View log" button. Post the contents of
the log file here.

Note: No need to post the following sections:

-- Running Processes --
-- Running Services --

Thank you for your response. I did find that disabling/disconnecting the
drives took care of the problem. Apparently after the repair install it was
using the network drive to help boot the system. After disconnecting the
drive and turning off the path for this user in active directory the problem
disappeared and the system booted fine!
