Explorer opens only 1 window at a time

I run Explorer 6 on Windows XP. If I have 1 Explorer window opened and I want
to open
another one, or if I click on something, in the opened window that opens
another window, then the opened window closes and the new one opens. That
problem came up about a week ago. Before that, I was able to open as many
Explorer windows as I wanted. What can I do to be able to open many windows
at a time?

Update/reinstall your scripting engines from here:

If no joy, go to File Types (My Computer...Tools...Folder Options...File
Types tab)
Scroll down to the URL: Hypertext Transfer Protocol file type, click to
highlight, click Edit, click Open, click Edit (slightly different with Me -
click to highlight, click Advanced, click Open, click Edit).

Application used: "C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome
Use DDE box should be checked
DDE Message: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application: IExplore
DDE...not running: <blank>

Thanks Jon but it I can't get far...!!!
1- The first link you gave doesn't seem to work.
2- The edit for the file type of URL: When I click on edit, it opens a
window and ask what program to use to open it with. If I keep the program
offered by default, it flashes but nothing appens after.
3- The link to the Microsoft database concerning the problem: I tried all of
it without success.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

Also, if you have Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall,
EarthLink (or another pop-up blocker) My IE2 (a shell for IE) etc.
Yahoo Companion is a very common cause.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps,
uninstall the program (especially uninstall Yahoo Companion).

With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.
