explorer not fully loading at start-up (no desktop icons)

Hi

Have just developed this fault where upon startup I get
no desktop icons, when I check the processes explorer
reads as using 8,268 memory, if I kill the process and
restart it all returns to normal and explorer memory
increases to 15,464. Any ideas why explorer is not
loading fully?

Hi Pete, what pc have you got and what memory have you got in it?, as I
have just placed more memory in mine and it is working VERY fast, even a
start up is quick as before it took as much time to make and drink two cups
of tea, in the morning!!! before it was allowing me to move the mouse or
anything.

right click on any part of you desktop screen and select ARRANGE ICONS BY,
in the next menu that open up, select SHOW DESKTOP ICONS.
