explorer hangs

I have iexplorer 6 running in xp pro
Explorer hangs when running a google search or downloading
pics.
I have no clue what to do
In xp i cant uninstall the explorer
Reinstalling hasnt helped
the error report reads:
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER35.tmp.dir00
