Explorer hang on opening folder

If I open a folder, my Windows Explorer is hanging for
more than one minute. If I check my system, i can see
that all files within this folder are touched by the
explorer! I have disabled indexing!

Can anyone help??

How many files are in the folder?

Also, indexing refers to the indexing service not to Explorer enumerating
files that are in a folder when it is opened.
