Explorer (files) not showing Folder List

T

Tony

When I run Explorer (right-click START and select EXPLORE)
a window opens allowing me to browse my file structure.
However, on the left side there is supposed to be a
FOLDERS list that tracks where you are in the directory
tree. Unfortunately I am not seeing that. I have gone to
the VIEW>EXPLORER BAR and selected FOLDERS but the left
side of the EXPLORE window only shows a featureless gray
area with nothing in it and nothing can be done there.
The other selection under EXPLORER BAR work fine.

I am running Windows 2000 Server with SP4 applied. This
may not be the biggest problem in the world but it is very
annoying so any help would be appreciated. --Thanks

Hi Tony

You may be able to solve this problem by reinstalling Internet Explorer. For more
information, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article that includes the
following...

"SYMPTOMS
In addition, the Folder view pane in Windows Explorer may be blank or gray
instead of having the folder tree view."

KB265829 - AddRemove Programs Tool May Not Work After Installing Internet
Explorer 5_5 or Internet Explorer 6 on Windows 2000

Or, if you want to try a registry fix published at the "Tech Support Guy Bulletin
Board", see the following Web Page. Note, after the regedit you may need to log off
and then log back on.
