Explorer.exe keeps using more mem usage

When every I go into my computer to look for files, the
computer goes to 100% mem usage and then take a few
minutes to be able to access anything. When I go into
task manager I notice that explorer.exe mem usage keeps
growing. Is there a fix for this?

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show?
