explorer.exe-entry point not found-error message after updates ins

After installing updates last night, I now get a blank destop with the
message:-
Explorer.exe - Entry Point Not Found.
The procedure entry point AssocGetPerceivedType could not be lcated in the
dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll

I see from other comment thru help that many other users have similar
problem. The only difference with my problem is that i have slightly
different wording (AssocGetPerceivedType).
But the dll file is the same.

Any thoughts by anyone would be appreciated on how to fix this problem
obviously created by microsoft updates.
TIA
Geoff

I got the same thing last night!
I reinstalled windows from the disc. Luckily it saved all of my photo's and
stuff i had backed up!
Took about an hour to do.
It says when you reload it all if you would like to repair a previous
windows installment...i clicked yes...
Hope this helps to some degree.

Geoff-

I tried putting in my installation CD but the program was too quick fo
me and I seem to have ended up with two versions of Windows, one where
have lost all of MY Pictures and all of my e-mail correspondence an
many of my programs. The 2nd operating system is the orignal fault on
where it just hangs and this occurred just after I had applied a
update. Can anyone tell me how to get back to square one, I don't wan
to lose a years work, THANKS, Da
