explorer.exe cursor hourglass

We are experiencing a problem on a Windows XP SP2 machine with Explorer. When
the user uses Explorer to access folder on either a local or Shared drive the
Cursor shows the hourglass for LONG periods of time (5-10 seconds or more).
The user is unable to access/move/manipulate any files in these views as the
cursor is showing busy (via the hourglass).
Has anyone seen this behavior in Explorer and know of any things to look at
to correct..

THANKS in advance

Have you scanned the system for spyware?
