Explorer Crashes when I try to print

Printers: Canon LBP-1210, HP Deskjet 950 C

These two printers were linked to a desktop computer which served as a
print server for a small network. Everything worked fine till Monday
this week, when the print server refused to print. When I tried to
print a test page to either printer from the control panel applet,
Explorer crashed without warning and without an error message. It came
up again a few seconds later with all explorer windows closed. I did
the usual uninstall/install routine but nothing changed.

I decided to solve the problem by buying a Belkin wireless print server
which arrived today.

In the meantime, I linked my Sony laptop directly to the Canon printer
(USB) and it printed fine for a few hours, but then had the same
symptoms as my wireless computer.

When the wirless print server arrived, I installed it and tried to
print from the three computers on my network. None of them will print.
When I try to print from an application nothing happens, when I try to
print a test page from explorer, explorer crashes with no warning. The
only thing that has changed on any of these computers is the automatic
installation of a security update over the last few days.

I have followed the procedure outlined at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 and it did not help.

To recap. Computers and printer were talking to each other fine. Now
the printers refuse to print and explorer crashes when I try to print
from there. Please help, I've wasted a lot of my time on this and as a
self employed small business man, I can ill afford to do so.
