Explorer Address Bar/buttons/search problems

My Explorer is messed up - the address bar is grayed out
and up a level from where it normally is. I cannot pull it
back down. So currently I cannot go anywhere except
bookmarked pages. Before that, Explorer already had
problems - some pages wouldn't load, some buttons didn't
appear, others couldn't be pushed. My search utitlity for
files on the box also does not work.

I have run CWShredder - it found nothing. I have also run
Spybot Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware and removed/quarentined
all the things they found. It made no difference to the
address bar being grayed out or the search utility. I
haven't been able to check the button thing. I have also
downloaded the most recent stuff from Microsoft. No difference.

I'm getting pretty frustrated and considering reinstalling
XP. Please help!

Thanks,

Toolbar / Menu bar / Address bars missing or misplaced
Try resetting the Toolbar position in the registry. Use this >tool from MVP Doug Knox:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm
Or, use this REG:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg
[Close all browser windows and apply the REG script]
Deletes the following registry key; Resets Toolbar,
Addressbar positions to defaults. Restores hidden/missing
bars:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar]

I also ran the toolbarfix utility - it did nothing, and I
don't understand what you're supposed to do with the REG.

I got the grayed out address bar to go away. However, I
still cannot push or see various buttons on various
websites. Any advice?

Also, my search (on the machine) comes up a blank page.

Thanks,
