Explorer 6 SP2

Can anyone here shed some light on a problem I've been having using Explorer
in XP Home. I've done all of my updates and am current including service
pack 2. My problem is that it is often painfully slow accessing and loading
web pages. Quite often when doing a download such as a software purchase
from a web site the download starts and goes to varying %'s and stops and
just sits there indefinitely doing nothing. If I retry sometimes it does
the complete download other times it will stop at a different degree and
just sit there. I am on broadband and have gone to speed test web sites and
confirmed that my connection is one of the fastest available in North
America. Out of exasperation and as a result of recommendations from a
friend I downloaded and tried the Opera Web browser and found that it was
consistently much faster and did the same downloads quickly and flawlessly
non-stop. The downside is that I prefer Explorer (if it works properly) and
many web sites features are not compatible with Opera. Is there any way I
can improve my Explorer's performance? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Frank,

There is quite a difference between Explorer and Internet Explorer. That
said, start here and then repost. Good luck in the meantime!

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.

Just get the Firefox web browser. It is much better than IE and Opera. You
can customize it with many extensions and this is what makes it the best.

Don't give up after taking a look at it. Read the help first.
