I keep coming across this site on the internet. Is it any good? Is it
worth paying $10/month for? Seems expensive. I would like to hear what
people think about it.

Thanks,

Hi,

Looks like a joke. I wouldn't waste my money or time on it. Especially if
your questions are centered around .Net, ASP.Net, and other Microsoft
technologies. These newsgroups offer far more knowledge, just check out the
last month worth of posts, very few went unanswered. In addition there are
a ton of communities where you can also post your questions,
www.gotdotnet.com to name one of the biggest which also features many other
sites revolving around all aspects of .Net. Another thing...these
newsgroups and those communities don't *CHARGE* you to perform a search.
That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard! People get grumpy around
here when the same question is posted frequently. I can only imagine the
grief that must be caused there when you can't search for your answer first
without paying. Good luck! Ken.

Hi,

Experts-Exchange has a lot of good answers to questions. But they didn't
always charge. They used to use a points system whereby you would earn
points by answering people's questions. The more points you had, the more
questions you could then ask. In other words, you had to answer questions
in order to be able to ask them.

They don't just have programming questions. They have many categories.
But for .Net and MS related, these newsgroups are the best and you can
search them with Google for free which beats practically everything else,
hands down.

I don't think Experts-Exchange is worth $10 per month.

To send me an E-mail, remove the "[", "]", underscores ,lunchmeat, and
replace certain words in my E-Mail address.

Also, the display format changed. Before it used to be easy to
navigate from the question to the answer(s), but now you have to
go through ads and stuff. This really confuses people.

I never liked the point system, as it pitted replier against replier
and everyone got upset when the "askee" suddenly disappeared
without awarding the points to some one.

I remember having to answer a few questions just to ask one!
And not only do you have to answer it, but the "askee" also
has to award you, not some one else the points. So after asnwering
a few questions, and not getting awarded any points, I just gave up.
Strangely enough.. months after that incident, I got an emial from
them saying that the moderator had awarded me 300 points for
a question that I answered and the "askee" never awarded to anyone.

As others have said, this was a system that apparently is no longer in
effect, so my comments don't apply at present, but still, it was not
a positive experience for me, but I am sure it was for others, as saw
they already had something like 700,000 points!!!

Regards,
Saga

I use it daily since 1998. I had never paid for it and I wouldn't. For sure
it is a great place but will all the sites on the net today where you can
ask question, I don't think that one need to pay for that.

Are you sure that there is no free (but limited) accounts?
