Exiting websites linked to knocks me off Mozilla/Internet Explorer

Newly installed system with Windows/XP Pro. When linking from one website to
another, it links correctly, but when exiting, instead of going back to the
first website, it knocks me completely out of Mozilla or Internet Explorer,
whichever I was in. Since it happens with both, and also with Outlook
Express, I think the problem is with Windows/XP Pro.

How are you "exiting?" You do not "exit" from different links but
instead "Back" from the web site.

You need to understand by "clicking" on the top right most X, you are
closing the the appilication, not just closing the web site. You need
to understand the new style of "tabbed" browsing. To close a "tab",
look for the X to the ring on that tab.
