Existing XP Pro on computer, want to install new XP Home

Guest

Howdy everyone, I purchased a used laptop about 5 mos. ago which came with
XP Pro. Discovered a few days ago the XP Pro was an illegal copy. I purchased
new full copy of XP Home to replace the illegal copy but do not want to loose
all my other installed programs and info. How is best way to install new XP
Home and remove illegal copy of XP Pro? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

One cannot install Windows XP Home Edition on a computer
that is running Windows XP Professional. You will have to
perform a "clean install" which requires a reformat of the hard
drive and reinstall your programs after installing Windows XP.

Clean Install Windows XP

If you had purchased a "Full Version" of Windows XP
Professional, you could have used the following utility
program to simply change the Product Key:

The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for
users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key
to a genuine Product Key - all without a reinstall!

Backup all your data and make sure you have the install media for all the
other applications.. Use the CD you bought, format and install Windows XP
home and reinstall/restore all of your stuff.

There is no downgrade to Windows XP Home Edition.
