Existing window hangs, new window doesn't

We are seeing an odd issue at my company. Intermittantly, existing
browser sessions will hang when trying to browse to a new page.
However, if you open a new browser either from the desktop shortcut or
from the the new window menu option and type in the address, it loads
instantly.

ANyone seen this before?

We are not using a proxy, but do use websense.
