ExcludeProfileDirs did not reduce roaming profile

I have a roaming profile problem ~ my profile is bloated and not relevant to
other machines when I move about the buiilding.

I editied ExcludeProfileDirs in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon but it appears it only works inside \local
profiles\ (which contains an \Applications data\ directory) not at the
\Application Data\ level which contains mind manager i.e.

Paul\Local Settings\application data\adobe is blocked but
Paul\Application data\Mindjet is not :-(

I also have Adobe, Google Earth and PsP at the higher level, all of
which I'd like out of my roaming profile. Begone, space hogs!

Am I doing something silly, or is this not possible? If the latter is
there another workaround in your knowledge base?

NB I am running windows XP but the above location seems to be common?

Self-repaired :)

The higher level directory does work ~ you have to be very careful to
specify the paths to the programs you want to exclude being REALLY carefull
of spellnigs, no extra (or missing) spaces, no leading or trailing spaces, no
trailing \'s etc. Seporate directories with a semi-colon. One error = nothing
works. Probably best to craft it in Word ~ up to 259 charactures = OK, 260
or more charactures = nothing works :-(
