Exchange + POP3 or HTTP send doesn't work

I have Outlook 2003 set up to an Exchange server for work e-mail. I am
trying to set up second account in OL for personal e-mail, either POP3
or HTTP. When I add the second account, I cannot send e-mail through
either account. I can receive mail fine, but messages I send just go
to my Outbox and stay there forever. I have tried everything I can
think of in the send/receive settings, but nothing works. I have set
up separate groups for each account and one group for both accounts. I
have the "send immediately when connected" option checked. I am not
working offline. As soon as I delete the second account, my Exchange
account works fine again. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Could you turn on diagnostic logging (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and post
the OPMLog.log file after trying to send with two accounts?

Here you go:

2005.01.27 11:05:30 <<<< Logging Started (level is LTF_TRACE) >>>>
2005.01.27 11:05:30 Microsoft Exchange Server: Synch operation started
(flags = 00000001)
2005.01.27 11:05:31 Microsoft Exchange Server: UploadItems: 0 messages
to send
2005.01.27 11:05:31 Microsoft Exchange Server: Synch operation
completed
2005.01.27 11:05:31 Hotmail: Synch operation started (flags = 00000001)
2005.01.27 11:05:31 Hotmail: UploadItems: 0 messages to send
2005.01.27 11:05:31 Hotmail: Synch operation completed

It says 0 messages to send on both Exchange and Hotmail, but I DID
compose a message and hit send - it's just in my Outbox, in italics,
going nowhere.

Well, that's a very informative log, in a pretty negative way. You're
right - nobody's seeing the message, and I have no idea why...

Is your Exchange account cached mode or online? Look at the properties of
the account in Tools -> Email Accounts... to tell. Does the problem
persist if you change modes?

Does the problem go away if you create a new mail profile? If it does,
please don't delete your current profile - I'd like to see if we can figure
out what's wrong with it so as to prevent similar problems in the future...
