Excessive number of regsvr32.exe processes running

I recently installed an antispam program (Ella for Spam cCntrol) to run with
Outlook 2000 and a Download Manager from Kontiki. Since then I have removed
the Download Manager because it was flagged by Ad-aware. Coincident with
this I have had over 100 regsvr32.exe processes running (viewed through task
manager). My understanding is that regsvr32.exe is used to register new
software. Is it normal to have this many versions running? How do I get rid
of them since they all take up some amount of memory.

REGSVR32.EXE is used to register DLL's and Active X Controls with the
system, so that it knows where to find them, and how to call them when
needed.

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Startup Programs Tracker. This
small utility scans your system for startup programs and running processes.
It also allows you to create a log file that can be copied and pasted into a
newsgroup post. The contents of the program window are also copied to the
Windows Clipboard, automatically.

As a general rule, its not necessary to include the running Services section
in a newsgroup post.

I've got the same problem only occasionally. Task manager lists
literally hundreds on regsrv32 running.

Once I managed to kill them all off. Once I had to reboot. I've got
firewalls, adaware, virus scanners. ANd none have picked up anything
out of the usual.
