*= This problem can happen/occur if the Driver is old or corrupt, so try to
delete all traces for the Old driver and Run Disk Clean Up then Defrag and
try the installation after this.
*= Another is User permission, log as Admin and perform the installation.
Make sure you have the latest Driver for the Printer.

I tried this but still have the same problem. Have Lexmark X1270 and it
doesn't install properly but shows up in control panel. The printer says
"cannot communicate" when I try to print a test page so then I try to access
"printing preferences" and I get "function address 0x0 caused a protection
fault exception code 0x0000005. The application property page may not
function properly." and then my computer freezes.
