Excel2000 file cannot open

Hi,

I've an xls2000 file in Win98 and it is protected by
password. When I open it recently, the following error
message prompted:


'xls 2000 file' cannot be accessed. The file may-be read
only, or you may try to access a read-only location. Or,
the server the document is stored on may not be
responding.

I've tried to open it in Win2k environment but same error
display and since I cannot open the file, all the recovery
steps posted on the Knowledge base could not be done.

Any great idea and solution to solve my problem?

I'm afraid all my tips are aimed at unprotected workbooks, which
normally have the greatest chance on getting anything out of them.

All I can advise you is to consider contacting a commercial file
recovery company. There are various ones around, just search on Google
for Excel file recovery.

I can recommend you to use Excel Password recovery
http://lastbit.com/excel, they have guaranteed recovery for
password-protected excel documents too.

Try creating a copy of the file and attepting to open that.
