Excel to Word OLE linking problems

I linked Excel data to Word using Paste Special command. I copied the
data
from Excel and pasted the data into Word using Paste Special,
choosing
Microsoft Excel as the object and clicking Paste Link.

Unfortunately, the data is not visible in Word. Actually, it's
displays only
as a box. I can access Excel by double clicking the box and opening
Excel
through Word. However, I can not see the Excel data as an object.

I updated Office 2003 from the Microsoft website. I updated Windows
XP
through Windows Update and I ran searches through Microsoft database
and
could not find a solution to this issue. I could not find anything on
OLE
patches, OLE problems. I couldn't find anything.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | uncheck the "Picture
placeholders box and check the "Drawings" box | Print tab | check the
"Drawing objects" box | OK.
