Excel Shutting Down

I am using Excel 2007, and when I try to access Add-Ins through the Excel
Options (by clicking on the icon in the top left corner and then clicking on
Excel Options), the program closes and I get the error message "Microsoft
Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenince." Can somebody tell me why this happens and if there is a
way to actually access the Add-Ins with the program shutting down?

Ditto! Worse, it locks up, giving me the "(Not responding)" error, and will
neither close completely nor function. I've seen other mentions of this on
other messages, and their solution involves disabling/removing the Blackberry
Add-in. I'm not using that, and even just trying to access the Add-in screen
locks me up.

Is there back door way to get to the add-ins and see where the problem might
lie? Even Task Manager can't close out these instances of Excel that dot my
task bar, unresponsive.
