Excel files

I have vista system, and i having problems with my Excel 2007 fails to
locate my
excel files!
The message goes: "The file C:\user\myname\documents and setting and etc
etc... cannot be found.
Please check that you have given the right name and try again.
This happens wether i try to open directly from My Documents or from a
shortcut / desktop.

This error only happens with Excel, not the other Office programs. I am
running on Vista.
I don't want to reinstall the whole Office package from the CD. Is this
possible.
