I have an odd issue that just happened with one of my Excel files. The file
is relatively small just 1 sheet 90 rows and maybe 50 columns without much in
its base form, but it has several macros on it to assist in importing other
data text files onto new worksheets, copying some analysis formulas to the
imported data worksheet, creating a chart and trendline on the data,
recording an extrapolated value from the trendline equation, and copying
summary information back to the 1 sheet that exists when you open the file.
Everything was working fine except now when I open the file (don't activate
any macros yet), the file name in the top Microsoft Excel bar shows up as
just "-*" and when I try to left click on the worksheet, I can't see which
cell is active except only sometimes the cell id box will update. I can not
select multiple cells or if I do, I can't tell what is selected because no
mouse (or keyboard) selections are ever shown although it does appear to be
doing the selections in the cell id box. The other issue is that I can't
Undo anything -- it is not an option and when I try to shutdown Excel, it
locks up and have to go to task menu to shut it down. I have tried running a
macro to make sure screen updating is on, but no luck fixing issue.
These errors carry over to any other file that I open or have open at the
time I open this file although those files are not corrupted if I open Excel
fresh to those files. I have tried copying the equations and macros to a new
spreadsheet, but so far the problem follows. I am doing it 1 piece at a time
now and so far so good, but I am afraid I will find the issue soon. Any help
is greatly appreciated in the meantime.
