Excel Crashes when clicking options in tools menu

I am running Excel 97 on Windows XP and I recently
changed the default file location by clicking on tools-

options->general tab-> and then changing the file path.

Now everytime I try to click on options in the tools
menu, Excel crashes. Any solutions??
