Excel 2010: two dots

Sometimes when entering data (words) when I put a dot I get two dots: I
enter prof. but I'm getting prof..
 
It might be the result of "auto correct" fixing it for you.
Find it on the Tools menu in xl2003 and earlier versions under "AutoCorrect Options"
In Excel 2010, it is found under... File | Options | Proofing
